Display full name  awa at 20:52 on Sunday, July 23, 2006

Hi, my name is Andy, this is my first time posting on Coadtoad. That’s probably because I only found it 5 minutes ago.

The thing I want to do is; and I’m not sure it can be done in HTML. It may have to be VB or JavaScript etc…

At work I design and maintain the companies Intranet. I want to personalise the homepage for each user.

We have a Windows 2000 server environment with XP Pro installed on the workstations. In the Active Directory we have filled in the “Full Name” box for each user. I want somehow to be able to display the full name for the user on the home page.

E.g. Welcome to the Intranet John Smith.

I know that the PC retrieves this information as the full name is displayed on the start menu. Due to this im hoping that I can take the name from the local PC instead of having to interrogate the AD.
