If I'm out of line posting here, I'll accept correction. Here's the deal: I'm very excited about learning Java, but I haven't yet. I have a copy of Jave Cafe by Symantec. They apparently aren't involved with that product anymore. I tried loading it onto my XP--even running it AS IF it were WIN95--but nothing parses. It just sits there. I can't run the tutorials.
I already have a website with audio clips and CD's for sale. The site is being redesigned slightly so that people without Windows Media Audio capabilities can listen to MP3.
I think I need to have people select which audio format they intend to use (maybe there's even a way to auto-recognize such things, but that's WAY over my head at the moment...) and then, on the page with the embedded audio, I'd like to recognize their choice (which icon they clicked) and play the correct format.
Does anyone know of some premade code that would do that? Or would anyone just love to be helpful enough to post or send code to accomplish this? Maybe that's asking too much. I'm sure I will be able to do this kind of thing once I know my code, but the learning curve is a bit steep at the moment and I'd love for people who can only access MP3 audio to listen to our music as well as the Windows people.
And any tips that would lead me in the right direction on this and to learn java more quickly and easily would be appreciated. There's so much out there, I don't quite know where to begin. I think the Symantec Cafe WOULD have been good for me. Is there anything else out there like it? Thanks.
