Database Retreive in JS or VBS Function

I would think that someone before me needed to connect/open/read/close a record from a Access database table from a function stored either in-line or in an include file from an asp page. If you know of a code snippet and would pass along the example where a server.createobject in a called function in asp is used to populate text boxes on an asp one/same asp I would be greatly be thankful.
